First ever Beast of the Week?

Is Conor McGregor's recent outburst worthy of the first ever "Beast of the Week" award?

In front of the most-watched UFC fight ever, the Irishman handed Denis Silver a comfortable beating and then lcrazily jumped the octagon fence and taunted current 145-lb Champion, Jose Aldo.

Is he a Beast or a rookie?

What about Jose Aldo's reaction, does his confident smirk deserve a #Beastoftheweek vote?

ATP World Tour Finals Update...

The top two are making their presence felt in the toughest tennis tournament of the year.

Both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have not dropped a set in the event that showcases the top eight-ranked players in the world

Saving the Best for Last

Djokovic's determination to finish the year ranked World No. 1 seems inevitable as he has lost only five games in the event. He is one more victory away to be announced as the best player the world for a third time in the past four years.

The Fed Express has also looked impeccable in his two matches. He dispatched Milos Raonic 6-1,7-6 a few days ago and then dominated this year's US Open finalist, Kei Nishikori.

Things start to Heat up

As the last few group matches will be played, who is going to progress to the semi-finals is going to fascinating.

Group B will show case the best match up with hometown hero, Andy Murray needing to beat Federer to have any chance to progress. Nishikori needs to  win over a winless Raonic. Both of those will be on The Tennis Channel tomorrow.

Group A will see Djokovic face Tomas Berdych while a win-less Cilic takes on Stan Wawrinka. Berdych is the one under pressure as a loss from him will almost guarantee his season is done. These matches will be showcased on The Tennis Channel on friday.

165mph in 8 seconds... Must be a BEAST

I was once told that, "passion is hard to define but easy to see."

'Turbo Greg' Stanton's desire for life is easily defined by passion. The 52-year-old is not a household name nor does he make millions of dollars drag bike racing, but hearing him talk about the industry is something to appreciate it.

Stanton is entering his 30th year of grinding it out as a privateer and continues his quest to win the Manufacturer's Cup. Stanton's best finish was back in 2001 when he finished 5th (back then it was the AMA Cup) but did point out that, "I finished higher than the Monster team." In a sport where the factory teams or "Goliath's" pour millions into their racing machines and equipment this was a huge victory for the little guy paying his own way and simply following his passion.

Living the Dream

Stanton has prided himself on allowing his love for racing to fund his hobby. He turned down numerous collegiate scholarship's and now works two jobs for that, "eight seconds of glory." Most drag bike races only last eight seconds on the track, in fact a title is won in just 32 seconds.

Stanton's Beast-like nature well humbly instilled in him by Father, the first inaugural winner of the Bristol Motor Speedway drag bike race back in 1965. His Dad spent 35 years in the National Guard and made sure his son never gave up on his dream.

"I live the dream," he chuckles as he explains all that goes into his bike. He does all his mechanic work himself and even offers to help out other riders as they prepare to race. Never trained in mechanics, his dad taught him from a young age how to fix stuff. "When I was 18 I was fascinated by anything that went fast."

Family First

However, the native of Memphis, TN has always understood the importance of family and relationships. He has three daughters who have inherited his desire to be great; they own 10 national cheer-leading championships between them.

With his youngest daughter about to graduate, Turbo can finally return to where he belongs. Next year he will amount a serious challenge for the Manufacturer's Cup; excited at the prospect bettering his placing since he last participated.

This time he has some company. Now known as 'Grandpa' in some places, Turbo (shown right teaching Lane, one of his many gran-kids), gets to prove to the next generation of his family that life is about living out ones dreams and passions to the fullest!

And the winner is...Anti-Climatic

Both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer had been putting on master classes throughout the ATP World Tour Finals and yet when the two finally got to meet... the result was not what we guessed.

Federer Faults in Final

Federer had scintillated the British crowd on Saturday as he came from a set down and saving match points, to outlast fellow Swiss, Stanislas Wawrinka. However, this was all he wrote in 2014.

The World No. 2 rose on Sunday morning to find his back too painful to play leaving a disgruntled Djokovic to collect his fourth ATP World Tour Finals crown without hitting a ball.

"You never like to win like this, especially these big matches against big rivals," said the World No.1

What about the crowd?

With a stadium packed full of tennis fans frothing at the mouth to see some quality tennis, Andy Murray stepped up and played an exhibition against Djokovic. He also played a doubles match with John McEnroe, Pat Cash and Tim Henman.

Not seeing the two best tennis players in the world face off is hard to swallow, but points like the one below help to ease the grief. After all, as Beast Universe CEO, Joseph Schmulian says, "a laugh is a win in itself!"

The tennis world will now turn to the Davis Cup Final as Swizerland and France face each other in France on November 21-23. Lets hope Federer is healthy by then.

UFC179: McGregor's Mouth= More Money

With UFC 179 just around the corner, it seems Conor Mcgregor is somehow the talk of the town.

The 16-2 Irishman has miraculously put himself next in line for a title shot but is it all about making money? UFC President Dana White argues McGregor is a legit contender .

" If you go down the (featherweight) list, every one of those guys has fought Jose Aldo already. Conor hasn’t. So who do you line up next for the champ other than Conor? Everybody else has fought him."

McGregor demolished Dustin Poirier in the first round of UFC 178 and that took him to a top five ranking. He has been sensational marketing for the UFC and his popularity continues to grow.

The debate on whether McGregor gets his title shot comes to the disgust of Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson. These two are set to fight in November but McGregor's popularity means he could leap frog them both.

"It doesn't surprise me," Edgar told ESPN.com. "As a promoter, it's probably the smart thing to do. He's got a lot of buzz going. Why have him lose before they can make money on that fight?

Cheap shot or wise words?

UFC 179 is headlined as a repeat of UFC 142 as Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo (24-1) takes on Chas Mendes (16-1) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 25. What happens after that will be very interesting.

Federer finally tastes some Asian Zing

Not all athletes are happy with being the greatest...some want to be remembered forever.

This is a great way to describe Roger Federer. The 33-year-old won his 23rd ATP 1000 event on Sunday needing two tiebreaks to beat Gilles Simon to win, "the biggest tournament in Asia."

Lucky #23

"I got lucky to come through the first round after saving five match points," said the new World No. 2. "It has been a dream week."

The Fed Express defeated the World no. 29 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-2) in Shanghai. Federer gave a scintillating performance on Saturday as he destroyed the World no.#1, Novak Djokovic, 6-4 6-4 in the semi-finals.

Federer's Shanghai surprise puts him above Ivan Lendl on the most 1000 Masters series titles list. However, he is second to current leader, Rafael Nadal, who sits at 27.

The 'Swiss Maestro' travels home next week as he joins Nadal and Wawrinka in the ATP 500 Swiss Indoors Championship.

Mayweather Pacquiao?? WHEN?? SOON??

The fight that could bost boxing back into the big-time is meant to finally happen.

Floyd Mayweather sr. has claimed that the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight will definitely happen and happen very soon. About time!

The undefeated, best pound-for-pound fighter's Father gave an interview to fighthype.com and did not hesitate to say, "I'm pretty sure he's going to get Pacquiao."

Mayweather has only two fights left on his Showtime contract and there is no question that if they were both with Pacquiao that the fight would be worth over a hundred million dollars each.

The talk on this fight has left many fans (such as myself) frustrated. If this had happened years ago we would have seen one of the best fights of all time. Both have speed and incredible punching ability. However, it is clear to see that now both fighters are not at the top of their games.

The reality remains that this is the biggest fight for Boxing. Everyone wins for it to happen and, as Skip Bayless mentioned on ESPN First Take yesterday, "Floyd has no excuse not to fight Manny."

I never bought the idea that Mayweather was scared of Pacquiao but this is a great test. He said he wants Manny, everyone says he will win, so what is the wait Floyd?

Beasts of the South: MISSISSIPPI

What a weekend for the state of Mississippi. Both SEC schools unbeaten, both now ranked inside the top 5.

Whether you are hailing state after they demolished #6Texas A and M or hotting your toddy as Ole Miss comes from behind the defeat #2 University of Alabama; the state of Mississippi celebrated all night long.

They were awoken to the knowledge that MSU are ranked third while Ole Miss are fourth. Mississippi State embarassed the then 6th-ranked Aggies 48-31. Add this to their defeat of LSU in Baton Rouge last weekend, the Bulldogs are living up to their pre-season national championship hype.

Ole Miss showed even more composure after trailing Alabama 14-3 at the half and did not allow the Tide a single point in the fourth quarter as the Rebels scored 2 touchdowns to end the game with a 23-17 win. Even Katy Perry celebrated the win. She must be a good luck charm.

It is great to one of the poorest states standing so tall in a major football conference. What is even greater to see Coach Mullen and Coach Freeze taking ownership of the state and creating such a strong sense of school and state pride .

This weekend provides more tests at Mississippi State host #2 Auburn while Ole miss faces the 14th-ranked Texas A and M aggies.

Hail State, Hotty Toddy.
